Make room to understand each other
Communication can become mostly about schedules, responsibilities, and getting through the day. This focused practice helps you and your spouse notice what is happening beneath the surface and respond with understanding, with Jesus at the center.
Learn. Observe. Practice together.
-
Learn: a 25-minute teaching with Barry and Lori Byrne.
-
Observe: a 15-minute demonstration of the Listening Exercise.
-
Practice: take turns speaking and listening, about 15 minutes in each role.
-
Keep learning: use the printable guide, Feeling Words, the Constantly Learning devotional, and ideas for three conversations this week.
What is included
Six short lessons, about 41 minutes of video, a downloadable practice guide, and a 30-minute couples exercise. Allow approximately 80–90 minutes for the full first experience, or divide it over two evenings. Access the material at your own pace.
Is this for us?
This experience is for married couples who want to grow in listening and understanding. Begin with a simple, current topic that is not a point of conflict between you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you remain patient, curious, and willing to learn.
If a conversation becomes heated or hard to hold, pause, pray, and consider talking with a pastor or counselor you trust.
How this relates to Love After Marriage
The teaching and demonstration are also included in Session 2 of the full Love After Marriage eCourse. This focused course brings them together with guidance for practicing as a couple; you do not need to complete the full eCourse first.
